Welcome Back!

Dear Discovery Charter School Families,

Welcome to the beginning of an exciting school year! I have been overwhelmed by the support and encouragement that I have received from parents, students, and staff. I know that together we are embarking on a journey that will take us beyond our expectations. The entire staff is looking forward to your support as your child enters the classroom, learns, and grows through the year. Let’s all commit to have a positive school year, setting an example for our students, and being an enhancement to our teachers.

Throughout the year I look forward to continuing our community involvement as well as supporting our wonderful home and school association (HSA). The staff will be working together to make sure that your student is getting the high-quality education that Discovery Charter School is known for. Find out if your child scored Advanced or Proficient on the PSSA last year with the new Common Core standards – and if not, what you can do to support this for the upcoming year as this determines their high school choice. Don’t forget to join the HSA; information to be forthcoming. Once membership list is posted for the HSA we will start the process of elections in October.

We have new speed bumps in the parking lot, please make sure you adhere to the five miles an hour speed limit. Also park legally and beware of blocking driveways. Be sure to check out the Discovery Charter School website weekly. We are striving to make sure it is updated weekly and in emergency situations immediately. Finally, school begins at 7:45 am for Middle (6-8) and 8:30 am for Primary (K-5). You set your child up for success by getting them to school on time, ready to learn, and in full uniform. There will be severe consequences for both infractions if this does not occur. You will get information on other new and modified student policies during the first month of school.

We are ready for the 2017-2018 school year. Here’s to a great school year! Welcome back!!
